Intern Highlight

It is awesome to have businesses that are so willing to help students learn outside of the classroom.  The Ferry Duck Club has taken on two amazing students and is pouring knowledge out to these two like a volcanic eruption.  Not only are the students doing something that they truly love but  they are learning leaps and bounds about plants, vegetation, water fowl and other things necessary to becoming a dynamic business owner. It is a perfect example of Work Based LEARNING.  Clay Bedford said:
"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."
Thanks Joel and your fantastic experience for these Box Elder Bees!

First Visit to Intern Sites

He is awesome! She is amazing! This was the general response from the mentors at the internship sites.  Not one negative word was spoken about the students that are currently at their internships.  Most seemed very comfortable with what they were doing and all seemed to be having a very positive learning experience.  The students really seemed to be developing:  Character, Communication, Employability, Systems Thinking and Good Reasoning Skills.  Thank you students and thank you to those hosting these awesome individuals.  One highlight was Mrs. "B" at Mountain View Elementary who said: "Emily is amazing! Do you have any more like her to send my way?!"  She was referring to Emily  who is helping her work with students that need a little extra time spent with them. Here are some pictures that glimpse into the visits:

Freshmen BATC Day

The 9th graders from Box Elder Middle spent the morning going through different programs within the Logan BATC campus.  This was a great oppurtunity for the students to see if any of these programs would be something of interest while in their high school years before enrolling in them.  The students were very respectful and asked well thought out questions.  This is a neat partnership for our school and can really help alot of our students. Special thanks to Cherie Lee and her counseling department for making this such a great experience.
